PLEASE FOLLOW THESE SUGGESTIONS WHEN USING THE
LIST:
1. HOW TO ADDRESS YOUR MESSAGES
Always check the "to" field of your message
BEFORE you send it. If you are writing to the whole
group, the "to" field should say:
aquanet@cleverwhiz.com
If you are sending a private message to someone, or
it is for just one or two list members, e.g. to say
'Thank you', please send it to their personal addresses.
Once again, check the "To:" field in your
email program before choosing the "send"
command. This will keep the amount of mail the list
receives to a manageable level.
2. REPLYING TO A MESSAGE
If you wish to respond to a message from the list,
and you want your response to be seen by every member
of the list, use the "reply to all" command
of your email program to do this. If you want your
response to go only to the one person who wrote the
message that you are replying to, use the "reply"
command without any "all recipients" option
to do so.
If in doubt, check the "To:" and "CC:"
fields of your message before sending. For the entire
list "aquanet@cleverwhiz.com" will
be included in either to "to" or "CC"
field.
3. CHECK THE SUBJECT FIELD OF YOUR MESSAGE
Before sending your message make sure that you type
in a suitable subject that will give other members
a clear idea of what your message is about. This is
especially important when you use the 'Reply' button
and want to move the discussion on to a different
topic.
4. CHECK THE CONTENT OF YOUR MESSAGE
Keep in mind that this list is about watercolor painting,
so messages about guitars, world travel, lemurs (yes,
those cute big-eyed non simian primates) and other
fascinating topics should not be sent to us. They
all have been in the past!
5. THE 'INFO' COMMAND
You will find instructions on using the 'info' command
at the bottom of each message you receive from the
list. Use it to get help about which commands to use
for other list information.
6. JUNK-MAIL
On occasions you will find that junk-mail (spam) has
been sent to the list. Please DO NOT try to remove
it yourself. 'Remove' requests are seldom honored
by spammers. If you try to remove it yourself you will
be simply telling the spammer that your email address
is alive and active. Before long you could be deluged
with junk-mail, as your address will most likely be
given to other junk-mail lists.
The best thing you can do is immediately delete it
off your screen. Always leave it to the list-owner
to handle spammers.
7. SENDING FILES TO THE LIST
Do not send files as attachments to the list. If you
need to send a file to someone, send it in an email
directly to them. If you want other group members
to see your file, then put it on an ftp site or a
link from a web page.
8. CONTACTING THE LIST OWNER, RAYMOND BLUM
When writing to the owner keep in mind that the position
is voluntary and unpaid (and is filled by someone
who is VERY sensitive and easily "put off").
The owner maintains the list as a service to fellow-artists.
If you are ever frustrated about something that has
happened on the list, calm down then write the owner
a rational account of the problem.
The owner can be contacted at
mailto:mailman@raymondblum.net
9. MANNERS
Courtesy, respect and tolerance are highly valued
by list members. Opposing viewpoints are fine as long
as they are expressed courteously.
If you are profane or abuse another member, you will
be removed from the list, without warning. Period.
End of discussion.
